Elizabeth and Wendy, two talented quilters, have been spending Wednesday mornings at The Door is Open, teaching some of our ladies the art of quilting. Each Wednesday, they bring their sewing machines and other quilting supplies, and spend several hours with a small group of women. Elizabeth and Wendy brought samples of their work which stimulated a lot of interest and a desire to produce a similar work of art.
The project they have chosen for our ladies is a quillow, which is a blanket with a ‘pocket’ that allows for the blanket to be folded into a pillow. Our ladies loved choosing the fabrics and designing the patterns.
Thank you, Elizabeth and Wendy, for your generous spirits, patience, kindness and willingness to share your quilting knowledge. Special thanks to our special donor, Pat, for donating a 1960 Singer sewing machine for our women to use.
