I’ve always loved hosting fundraising events for charity, donating to causes like the Food Bank, Morning Star (Collingwood program), Our Lady of Sorrow Family Charity, BC Cancer, and supporting families who have lost loved ones. In Christmas 2022, I had the honor of volunteering with The Door is Open charity. I assisted with food prep, cleanup, and more—it was incredibly fulfilling to give back to those in need.

This experience inspired me to organize a Christmas Zumba party and fundraiser for The Door is Open. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of everyone involved, we successfully raised enough funds to sponsor a hot meal for the community. I reached out to my Zumba family to see if anyone wanted to volunteer, and the response was unbelievable!  I feel so proud, grateful, and blessed to be part of such a caring and supportive Zumba community.

Last January 29th, 2023, we came together in person to sponsor and serve a meal. What an amazing experience—it filled my heart with so much pride and gratitude for everyone’s contributions. We have since been back, most recently this past September, and we look forward to more visits in future!

A huge THANK YOU to the team at The Door is Open, especially Sister Chita (Tita Torres), Gwen, Francis, and Ate Joji, for giving us the opportunity to serve. And an enormous THANK YOU to my incredible Zumba family! You guys knocked it out of the park. I couldn’t be prouder of how smoothly everything went.

For our meal service, we prepared and served a delicious menu:

chicken soup (sopas),

chicken and egg salad sandwiches on brioche bread,

fresh fruits (bananas, apples, oranges), cookies, coffee, and bottled water.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your incredible dedication, teamwork, and positive energy! We came together, stayed focused, and most importantly, we enjoyed the process of making a difference.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, everyone, for making this event a success. I can’t wait to do it all again next time! You are all amazing!
